How to Add Gift Alerts and Overlays to TikTok LIVE Studio (Free)
Step by step: connect your TikTok name, build a gift alert, and paste one link into TikTok LIVE Studio or OBS. Free with no caps, works on Mac and Windows.
TikTok LIVE Studio shows your camera and your games, but it has no alerts of its own. When a viewer sends a gift, nothing happens on screen unless you add an overlay. This guide adds one in about five minutes, with the free RnGrow Stream Tools: no caps, no Pro plan. Watch it instead: the 4 minute walkthrough.
What you need
- A computer with TikTok LIVE Studio or OBS.
- A free RnG account (Google sign-in works).
- Your TikTok @name. Not your display name, the one after the @.
Step 1: connect your TikTok name
Open rngrow.com/tools, sign in, and type your @name in Setup. Press Connect. You will see your avatar and "Connected as @yourname". There is no TikTok login and no password: the tools watch your LIVE the same way a viewer does. Then install the rngrow extension (Chrome, Edge, Brave) or the RnGrow Live app for Windows and Mac from the download page, so your own PC reads your LIVE. It pairs by itself. Streaming from a phone with no PC? Skip this step: our server reads your LIVE.
Step 2: build an alert
Go to Alerts and press "Any gift" under the starter rules. That creates a rule: when someone sends a gift, show an alert with their name and the gift. Add a sound if you like (Then, Play a sound). Press Test. You will hear the sound right away.
Step 3: paste one link into LIVE Studio
- Open Overlays. Screen 1 already has your URL. Add an Alert box widget and drag it where you want it.
- Press Copy URL.
- In TikTok LIVE Studio: Add source, choose Link, paste the URL. Done.
- In OBS: Sources, +, Browser, paste the URL, width 1920, height 1080, tick "Control audio via OBS".
Open Try it and press Gift. The alert shows up in your scene. When you go live, real gifts do the same.
Sound and voice
Screen 1 plays sounds and text-to-speech by default. If your streaming software does not pick up the audio, open the Audio page (link on the Overlays tab) in a normal browser tab, press Start, and capture that tab in OBS. Streaming from the TikTok app on your phone? Open the Phone page on the phone and press Start. Alerts play through the speaker.
It costs nothing
Free while in beta. Creators in RnG partner agencies keep it free forever. No caps on alerts, sounds or voice messages. If you get stuck, the Help tab inside the tools answers in your language and tells you the exact next step.
