How to Check if a TikTok Creator Is Eligible for Your Agency
Before you pitch a creator, verify they can actually join your agency. The eligibility checklist TikTok LIVE agencies use, and the mistakes that waste recruiter time.
Nothing wastes a recruiter's day like a great conversation with a creator who turns out to be unable to join your agency. They are already signed elsewhere, or their region does not match, or their account does not qualify for LIVE. Eligibility checking is the least glamorous part of recruitment and the one with the highest return on discipline.
The core eligibility checklist
Before investing in outreach, verify:
- LIVE access. The creator needs the ability to go LIVE, which depends on follower count and age requirements in their region. If they are already streaming, this box is checked by definition, which is one reason recruiting from LIVE beats recruiting from the For You feed.
- No current agency. A creator already signed to another agency usually cannot join yours until they leave, and poaching conversations are slow and often against platform rules. Check for agency badges and ask early.
- Region match. Agencies operate per region, and a creator in a country you do not cover is a dead lead no matter how good they are. Confirm the creator's actual country, not the language they stream in. These differ more often than you would expect.
- Account standing. Recent bans, muted LIVE permissions, or community guideline strikes make a creator temporarily unrecruitable. You often cannot see this from outside, so make it a standard early question.
- Age. Non-negotiable and worth confirming explicitly. Signing an underage creator creates real problems for your agency beyond the platform itself.
Signals that predict a creator will actually produce
Eligible is not the same as worth recruiting. After the hard checks, experienced agencies look at:
- Streaming consistency. A creator who goes LIVE several times a week without an agency is showing you intrinsic motivation. That is the single best predictor of post-signing performance.
- Viewer engagement, not viewer count. Fifteen viewers who chat and send small gifts beat two hundred silent lurkers. Watch a stream for five minutes before pitching.
- Coachability signals. Does the creator respond to comments, thank gifters, run any structure at all? Creators who already do the basics improve fastest with agency support.
The mistakes that burn recruiter hours
Pitching from stale lists. A list of usernames scraped weeks ago decays fast: creators join other agencies, stop streaming, or change handles. Whatever your lead source, freshness matters more than volume.
Skipping the region check. The most common wasted conversation in the industry. Confirm country before you pitch terms.
Trusting profile numbers alone. Follower count says almost nothing about LIVE performance. A 3,000-follower creator with a loyal LIVE audience is a better signing than a 100,000-follower creator who never streams.
Automating the boring half
Everything in the hard checklist except account standing and age can be verified from observable data, which is why this half of the job is increasingly automated. RnG, for example, only surfaces creators detected streaming on LIVE without an agency affiliation in your chosen region, so the leads arriving in your dashboard have already passed the checks that waste the most time. Your recruiters then spend their effort on the human half: the conversation, the pitch, and the judgment call on whether this creator will actually show up and stream.
